As an MM, you often use high energy skills. For this reason, I personally recommend have the energy set.

MM gets lots of aggro in AB (if you plan on going there)
so i use either tormentors or the MM armors (my lux15k is tormentors)
as for energy, i play with 16 death 14-15 soul reaping so its not a prob (N/Mo is dumb when you have flesh golem+taste of death...)
but to most other builds i find the +energy armors usually better (so i made a cabalist 15k kurzick for that)

Ah trick question, the real answer is to drop the whole luxon idea. jk. It's just not much of a "special", "exotic", or "unique" armor any more considering more people have that than they have any other 15k or even 1.5k.
Still its your opinion :P
I got full energy with bonelace boots. Probably one of the worse ideas if you are planning on AB with MM like evilsod said so for pvp i recommend MM, the tormentor's was kinda practical and all but now that there will be more holy damage with the growing amount of smiters and the dervish it seems like there will be a pretty big downside to tormentor's.
(If you really wanted my straight opinion and the whole opinion I would say energy as MM in pvp has a great chance of being a liability to your group....even in AB you wanna argue that?)

I've used the energy armor for everything I've done with my necro. As a MM I've found that the extra energy comes in handy for raising minions. If you're worried about damage then put some points in blood and take Dark Bond.
If you're going Curses then you have a lot of ways to reduce melee damage. The extra energy helps with spreading around Parasitic Bonds.
If you're going Blood then spiking means you need extra energy. Extra energy translates directly to extra healing for you.
All the other armors may be marginally more effective in specific cases for specialized builds. However, extra energy is generically more beneficial to almost all builds.

You could use Minion Master's armor... You know, since you're a Minion Master?
Anyway, as a Minion Master you're gonna get quite a bit of aggro, so Minion Master's armor or Tormentor's are good bets.

i think +enegy isnt alot for a mm since it dont add alot and you relay on Soul reaping anyway. but do get the ones with +Energy Regen

Minion Master Armor is what I'm planning to get my Necro, but everyone who is saying that +Energy armor is the way to go, I'd have to disagree. Remember, as a MM, you must stay alive or your minions will go berserk on your teammates. And if you're a good MM, you should have a decent amount of attribute points invested in Soul Reaping. I'd go with Tormentor's, simply for the extra 10 armor. Energy should not be an issue for MMs--your minions will die and give you energy. You need all the armor you can get. Stick with MM armor or Tormentor's, but don't forget the Bloodstained boots.

i agree with every1 who said "go for +armor and ignore +energy" here but i almost forgot
DONT go for +HP..i use 2 sup runes on my MM (of course i got vigor too) just so i can use (with 10 minions) 3 BotM then 1 taste of death (flesh golem) and go back to 100% (remember, HP sacrifice is based on percentage of your max HP, if you get too much its too hard to self heal)
lower HP in battle is also a plus (counting with not getting your dark bond striped, not something very common in AB anyway) because, with dark bond you take very lil dmg, if you sapam BotM while taking dmg (redirecting 75% to nearest minion) you still take less than normally would, and its easy to self heal, i know 2 axe wars cant bring me down that way (2 hammer ones with some comunication could keep me down for quite a while tho...but i guess very few casters could survive that anyway)

I usually play MM in PvE and I rarely run into energy problems. I probably have this advantage because I swap between weaponsets so at one point I have something 40e, then 55, on rare occasions I go up to 70+. I use the MM set and I don't need more energy. I prefer having the most available armour so when I get attacked in PvE, I can kite away from the enemy and have better chances at survival (with 75al, this isn't much of a problem).
With the MM armour at 5+ minions, you take almost half the damage you would take with the energy set (60 al). Imo, that's a lot.

How much PvE play have you gotten with an MM? If you have a decent puller and kite when attacked you won't die...I run two sups and don't die. Go with the plus energy for that one extra minnion.
Dark Bond and Infuse are you friends.

One thing I will say...
Avoid Revenant's...
Extra health may sound great, but once you start using Verata's Sacrifice or Blood of the Master, you sacrifice more health since all sacrificing is based on a percentage of your total health.
And I learned that the hard way. Stupid Kole's Torment
Anyways, I'd say go with Blighters on the Tunic and Leggings since you are bound to face a bunch of Hexes in PvE and some aspects of PvP, and Scar Pattern on the Gloves and Boots

Whoever said Flesh Golem with Taste of Death obviously never played MM.
Go for Scar Pattern, you shouldn't get hit anyway. If you are dying, eat a minion or a corpse.

Energy armor only increases you max energy, it does not help you regen it faster. Assuming you're going to be wearing Bloodstained Boots, the difference between Tormentor's and Scars is only +6 energy. Most people will wear a Scar on their arms even with Tormentor's chest and legs, so really it's only a difference of +5 energy.
To everyone saying "omgz noob wear full scars and just spam taste of death on your golem lol!11," you seem to be ignoring the fact that it costs energy to cast ToD on your golem, both to cast the spell and to re-summon the golem when it inevitably dies. That's right, for the sake of increasing your max energy by a measily 5 points, which won't even be your current energy most of the time because you'll be summoning and casting BotM, you are continually wasting energy casting ToD to heal yourself because you have less defense.
Max energy only matters at the start of the fight and occasionally when your current energy returns to max (which it shouldn't very often if you're staying busy). Extra defense helps 100% of the time, both in terms of keeping you alive and in keeping your team alive, since they don't usually appreciate getting ganked by rogue minions. Tormentor's is generally the best choice, at least for chest and leg armor. MM armor is another option, but it would require you to buy another set for non-MM builds, which I why I wouldn't use it.
The argument that "you shouldn't be getting hit" is based on an idealized world where everything always goes according to plan. Technically, my monk should never be getting hit either because I stay toward the back and support the frontline players. However, that isn't the reality you face when you're actually playing Guild Wars, which is why my monk as well as my necro wear high defense armor.

As a necro extra max energy is always useful, when multiple things die you got full energy in no time. So it will be used.
However, that doesn't mean you should get energy everywhere, you body armor should give +AL because that's where you will be hit the most. The gloves and pants/skirt I always go energy because it IS useful, and those aren't areas that are hit a lot. And the boots always need to be faster cast time on corpses.
Having more health does make you sacrifise more, however, lets say you have 450 health instead of 400, if you sacrifise 10% health, you'll have 405 with the first set and 360 with the second. In addition, being low health just make you an extremely easy target for spikes. One deep wound on you and you're dead in pretty much one 2 nukes. Having more health is always nice to have. Granted, you'll still only be able to sacrifise 10% health 10 times wether you have 450 health or 400, but it's about surviving the spike nukes.

what i would reccomend is the MM's gloves and the bonelace boots and the energy giving chest and leggings. you still get the + armor from having minions, while not as much with full MM's armor, and you get a nice energy bonus
